Podcasts are no longer a trend and today they are a new way to access information.

Globally, more than 465 million people listen to podcasts, a number that is increasing as the medium becomes more accessible and popular.

One of the most relevant aspects of podcasting is its ability to democratize access and creation of content. Today, a person with an idea to develop and access to basic equipment can produce a podcast, which has led to an explosion of diverse voices and new perspectives.

The podcast together with streaming contributed to combining radio and TVwith a transformation in the links with listeners and new modalities of sound documents.

The word “podcast” was invented by Guardian journalist Ben Hammersley. It is the contraction of “iPod” (the portable player created by Apple that allowed users to download audio files) and “broadcast” (broadcast, in English).

Although the creation of the podcast dates back to 2004, it was not until 2012, when Apple provided the technology to play it on its phones and offered original content.

Regarding content measurement, as audiences increasingly move across channels and platforms, Kantar IBOPE Media’s data and audience measurement, targeting, analytics and advertising intelligence services adapt.

They work with panel and first-party data in more than 80 countries, with an emphasis on the world’s fast-growing cross-media measurement, which involves versatility, scale, technology and experience.
