The municipality of Admiral Brown commemorated his 151st Anniversary in a very special way with the opening of the eighth edition of the Brownian International Book Fair (FILAB)whose inauguration was attended by the mayor, Mariano Cascallaresand the Buenos Aires Minister of Education, Alberto Sileoni.
The formal event took place with the traditional ribbon cutting at the entrance of the fair, located in Plaza Guillermo Brown, together with the ambassador of Ireland in ArgentinaJohn Gerard McCoy; the consul of the Republic of Italy in Lomas de Zamora, Massimo Palozzi; the president of the Book Foundation, Alejandro Vaccaro; and the head of Region 5 of State Management, María Inés Centurión.
Then, the authorities moved to the Roldolfo Walsh Auditorium, where Cascallares highlighted “our immense pride in launching this eighth edition of the most important cultural and literary event in the region, which in all its editions brought together more than 800 thousand neighbors, 180 artists and writers, and more than 500 exhibitors.”
“In addition to the opening of FILAB, this important day also brings together two other events that are fundamental to our Brownian identity: the 151st Anniversary of the creation of Almirante Brown’s party and the 12 years of the creation of the District Flag”he added.
Along these lines, the community leader invited “our neighbors to visit the Fair from this Monday, October 30 to Sunday, October 6, which this year will include, with completely free admission, more than 200 proposals including talks, book presentations and activities. artistic and cultural”.
In turn, Sileoni highlighted that “this is a very important event that is practically an anniversary of Buenos Aires Education. In Alte Brown there are 160 thousand students and that is why it is very important to continue promoting these spaces for reading and knowledge.”
The opening ceremony included the singing of the verses of the National Anthem performed by the Almirante Brown School Orchestra and the reading of Ordinances that declare the eighth edition of FILAB of Interest at both the Provincial and Municipal levels and also the delivery of ceremonial flags to Kindergarten No. 942 of Claypole; Primary School No. 6 of Adrogué and Secondary School No. 68 of Glew.
With the presence of the president of the Deliberative Council, Nicholas Jawtushchenko; the president of the School Council, Ezekiel Mars; the secretary of Education, Science and Technology, Sergio Pianciolaand the Secretary of Government, Juan Fabiani, The authorities also presented a commemorative plaque to the Almirante Brown Volunteer Firefighters on the 60th anniversary of its founding.
This important initiative, promoted by the Brownian Commune through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in coordination with the different areas of the Municipality, will feature – as in all its editions – with editorial, educational and cultural proposals such as the presentation of books , conferences, talks and shows for all ages and also the presence of the Republic of Italy and Paraguay.
