The film tells the story of Jakob, a young American Amish born in Pennsylvania who travels to Germany to perform the ritual known as Rumspringawhich is crossed by adolescents who belong to this religion. From there, they choose the person with whom they want to share the rest of their days and have children to establish a traditional family, far from all the advances of the modern world.

The culture shock is instantaneous, the German capital is not what I expected. Due to his clumsiness, he lost his luggage at the airport, so he goes out into the street in search of help. There he finds a bearded man with suspenders and a straw hat with whom he feels completely identified, thinking that he is an Amish, but in reality he is a German university student who mixes fashions regardless of styles.
