Food prices in popular suburban neighborhoods fell 3.2% in September

In August, a family of two adults and two children needed $412,081.13 to cover their basic food needs; in September, they needed $13,518.91 less (or -3.2%) than thirty days before.

In September, the price variation in local businesses in popular neighborhoods had a down 3.2% compared to the previous month. The data arose from a recent report in which food prices were surveyed in various parts of the Buenos Aires suburbs.

Thus, in August a family of two adults and two small children who needed $412,081.13 to cover their basic food needs, In September it required $13,518.91 less (or -3.2%) than thirty days before.

The data comes from the latest survey by the Institute for Social, Economic and Citizen Policy Research (CEPCI). Compared to September 2023, the same family must have had an increase in their budget to bank their food of 177.62%.

Prices of fruits and vegetables in September fell 6.06%; warehouse products -3.23% and meats -1.25%. Since September 2023, prices in the warehouse have risen 186.95%fruits and vegetables 200.31%, and the meats 149.53%.
