Says Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla from Escalandrum: “This important concert at the Teatro Colón celebrates the 50th anniversary of these two great albums by my grandfather, and also our 25th anniversary. We are preparing the entire repertoire for this double celebration that will be called Piazzolla ’74 in a theater like the Colón, very important for us and for my own history, since I accompanied my grandfather to the concert he gave there in the year 83; That night he gave me a program in which he wrote that at that concert he felt he had triumphed. For my grandfather, the Teatro Colón was always the best, his dream was to be a classical music composer, then he crossed paths with Nadia Boulanger in France and everything changed, but he always kept that love for classical music. We are united by a strong bond with Colón, with unforgettable moments: we played on my grandfather’s birthday in 2021, and it was a huge emotion. You can enjoy incredible acoustics, where each instrument sounds like never before. We are rehearsing songs like “Years of Solitude”, “Close your eyes and listen”, or “Deus Xango”. It is a repertoire that is not very well traveled, that is not played as much.”
