Every October 13, Psychologist’s Day is commemorated in Argentina. This science is essential to understand human thought and behavior. Through observation and analysis, it explores concepts such as perception, attention, motivation, emotion, brain functioning, intelligence, thinking, personality, personal relationships, consciousness and unconsciousness.

The importance of this science has been covering more and more spaces. Although its best-known area is individual therapy, currently many areas have included psychology professionals in their work, such as sports, media, educational establishments and different areas of employment.

Why Psychologist’s Day is celebrated every October 13 in Argentina

This date is in commemoration of the year 1974, when the First National Meeting of Psychologists and Psychology Studentswhich took place between October 11 and 13. According to a study carried out by Modesto Alonso, Argentina is the country with the most psychologists per inhabitant.

The meeting was made in the province of Córdobaorganized by the Confederation of Psychologists of the Argentine Republic (COPRA). And it was on the last day of said event when the proposal to establish October 13 as Psychologist’s Day in Argentina arose, and it was quickly approved.

In 1977, COPRA was renamed Federation of Psychologists of the Argentine Republic (FEPRA)an organization that remains in force to this day.
