The Legislature of Córdoba approved the accession to the RIGI

At the initiative of the governor Martin Llaryorathe Córdoba Legislature approved this Wednesday the accession of the province to Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), who was promoted by Nation as part of the Bases law.

Within the framework of its 16th ordinary session of the 146th legislative period, The unicameral parliament of Córdoba gave the green light to the project of the local Executive Branch, which proposed that the district comply with national regulations, although with particularities.

The official project had 39 votes in favor, 28 negative and two abstentions. They voted in favor of We Make United for Córdoba, PRO, La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and Mejor Futuro. The UCR, Frente Cívico, FIT, Creo (Kirchnerism) and Encuentro Vecinal were against it.

Córdoba approved its accession to the RIGI

From the Cordoba government they highlighted that “The intention of the initiative converted into law is to “continue strengthening the commitment to contribute to the promotion and sustainability of the different economic sectors of the province, through the incorporation of new companies and/or the development, integration, modernization and/or improvement of competitiveness of the existing ones.”

The session began shortly after 4 p.m. and was led by the lieutenant governor Myrian Prunotto.

In its article 1, the bill approved by the Unicameral indicates that the province of Córdoba adheres to the RIGI, provided for in title VII of national law 27,742 and its regulatory framework, “with respect to those Single Project Vehicles (VPU) that are settled and/or located in the province of Córdoba, for the purposes of developing and/or executing productive investments in the sectors established in article 167 of the aforementioned law.”

On the other hand, in its article 3, it stipulates “increasing the benefits provided for in the RIGI, as well as developing and executing complementary infrastructure works, incentive regimes, and financing programs for training and new jobs, and, where appropriate, “make available the current promotion laws, in addition to other promotional actions that may be created in the future.”

The bill had 39 favorable votes and 28 negative votes.

In addition, it empowers the provincial Executive to grant such benefits to large investments not initially contemplated.

According to the project, accession to the RIGI “it would provide one more tool to the outstanding productive profile of the province of Córdoba”, by granting it “benefits” such as “certainty and legal security for the different Single Project Vehicles (VPU)”.

RIGI “Cordoban style”

The legislator and provisional president of the Legislature, Facundo Torres Lima, who took control of the session during a section of it until its closing at midnight, stated: “The project we are discussing today is a Cordoba-style RIGI; “It seeks to promote the establishment of companies and industries, and generate employment.”

For his part, the legislator Ricardo Sosawho chairs the Economy and Budget Commission of the Unicameral, noted: “This project is superior because complementary mechanisms are introduced that guarantee greater competitiveness for the province, generating employment and consolidating Córdoba as a pole of industrial economic development.”

The RIGI bill (consisting of six articles) was generally approved by 39 votes in favor, 28 against and two abstentions. It was also approved in particular (article by article) by majority.

In this way, Córdoba joins other provinces that have already joined the RIGI, such as Río Negro, Jujuy, Mendoza and Chubut, among others.
