The retail sales SMEs for the Mother’s Day recorded a drop of 0.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, at constant prices. This is the third consecutive annual decrease (3.2% in 2023 and 4.7% in 2022), reflecting the impact of the lower purchasing power of families, according to the CAME report.

However, the results varied significantly depending on the sector and type of trade, influenced to a large extent by the Financing options and product pricing. For example, the appliance sector achieved a positive balance, driven by the financing offer of up to 9 interest-free installments and up to 36 interest-bearing installments, within the framework of depressed demand.


The strong sales volume occurred between Friday and Saturday, where more movement could be seen in the commercial premises. Beyond the annual comparison, it was a date with moderate activity. Even so, 7 out of 10 businesses consulted indicated that the results were equal to or better than expected, since expectations were very measured.

Sales were largely influenced by financing options
