Kirchnerist senator Carlos Linares presented the project before the Chamber of Deputies and now it will have to be analyzed by the Political Judgment Commission, whose authorities have not yet been defined.

After the president Javier Milei stated that he would “love to put the last nail in the Kirchnerism drawer with Cristina inside“, the Kirchnerist senator Carlos Linares today presented a request for impeachment against the president for “poor performance of his duties” for these statements.

Through his X account (formerly Twitter), the legislator reported that he presented a draft resolution “asking that the Chamber of Deputies promote the political trial against Milei after her threatening statements against the former president.”

“These sayings incite violencethey take us back to the darkest years of our country’s history and have no place in Argentine politics,” Linares emphasized.

At the same time, in the draft resolution, he indicated that Milei incurred “a serious act for the role he occupies in a Republican Nation like Argentinawhere the democratic system proposes guidelines that should not be exceededespecially by the highest figure in the Government”.

In the fundamentals, the senator highlighted that the fact that “a president urges wanting to assassinate and put the last nail in the drawer of the main figure of the current political opposition, such as Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, is incompatible with the position he holds and with the duties that citizenship and the National Constitution impose on him“.

Due to the official internal situation, the activity in the Impeachment Commission is delayed

The legislator has already presented the initiative in the Chamber of Deputies and now the Impeachment Commission will have to deal with that request. Anyway, It is not yet made up of an internal member of the ruling party, so the election of its president is pending.

The only meeting of the parliamentary body this year was on April 10, when they elected the libertarian Marcela Pagano as president. However, the appointment was not made official since this designation generated strong tensions within the ruling party. It remains for them to define whether or not the libertarian will finally head the commission.

Due to this internal conflict, no impeachment request has yet been addressed this year, including the one presented by the Unión por la Patria (UP) bench against Chancellor Diana Mondino.
