Tension within the Justicialist Party in the face of the internal elections scheduled for November 17.

The electoral board of Justicialist Party (PJ) last night there was a transfer of the challenges presented by the representatives of Ricardo Quintela against the list of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. The Riojan’s representatives advanced with a magnifying glass on the former president’s list, after the Patria Institute counted numerous irregularities on Quintela’s payroll, although, however, they asked that they be ignored to enable internal competition.

“They do not have to have a position of solidarity with us, we are within the established deadlines to correct any problem,” complained from the campaign of the governor of La Rioja in relation to the request for “broad and non-restrictive criteria” made by Anabel Fernández Sagasti, Teresa García and Gustavo Arrieta -proxies of the Christian list “The Homeland First”- before the electoral board to promote the participation of “Federals, a cry from the heart” in the face of alleged irregularities that they had raised through a request for reports.

The challenge of Ricardo Quintela

Jorge Yoma and Daniel LlermanosQuintela’s representatives, maintain that this is a maneuver to dirty the PJ’s electoral process ahead of the internal election scheduled for November 17. And last night they presented a challenge against Cristina’s list, observing that in three candidates for the national council on that list “an irregularity was identified (…) that contravenes the provisions of article 7 of Annex I, by virtue of not having affiliation with our Justicialist Party”.

In the document “challenges candidates from the Homeland First list” presented last night before the PJ electoral board, Yoma and Llermanos They add that “it was also detected on the contrary that the candidate for substitute councilor, order number 26, Rodenas Alejandra Silvana, belongs to the province of Santa Fe and not to the province of Buenos Aires as stated in the form.” Yesterday the deadline to present challenges expired and this afternoon, virtually, the 16-member electoral board that presides over the Armando Cabrera from Formosa, political arm of Gildo Insfránwill meet from 6 p.m. taking into account that tomorrow the deadline for the replacement of the contested candidates expires.

Elections in the PJ

Yesterday, Quintela’s representatives released a statement titled “Without noise and without administrative chicanes: in the PJ we are going to have elections.” There they denounced that “in the first 48 hours after the closing of lists established in the electoral schedule we have witnessed a dynamic of facts and omissions that we consider to be part of the methods and strategies that we are called to renew and transform within the framework of our game”.

With 3,200 ballot boxes provided by the National Electoral Directorate (DINE)and available envelopes that will no longer be used due to the implementation of the single paper ballot for the national elections, the electoral board of the Justicialista Party must also resolve the organization of the internal Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and Ricardo Quintela for next November 17.

On Friday, November 1, each list must submit its ballot model for the November 17 internal election. There are more than three million members qualified to vote and the shortage of ballot boxes emerges as a problem. The DINE delivers ballot boxes, uses and customs but the Ministry of the Interior does not have a legal obligation; “It is not a national election,” they clarify from an office in Casa Rosada.
