The Carmel country resident was sentenced to life in prison, accused of breaking into the home and murdering the sociologist with six shots.
The Buenos Aires Court of Cassation the process began to review the sentence against Nicolás Pachelo, who was found guilty of the murder of María Marta García Belsunce –happened in the country Carmel on October 27, 2002 – and sentenced to life imprisonment for it.
The resident of the gated community received his sentence in March 2024, almost 22 years after the incident. According to the final resolution, he broke into the woman’s house and after meeting her killed with six shots.
The ruling was handed down by the judges of Room II of the Buenos Aires Court of Cassation Fernando Mancini Hebeca and Maria Florencia Budiñowhich reversed the acquittal by majority of the Oral Criminal Court No. 4 of San Isidro issued in 2022.
In addition to Pachelo, María Marta’s widower, Carlos Carrascosawas imprisoned for six years, until he was finally acquitted.
