After the leaders’ meeting, Mieres confirmed at a press conference that there will be joint events between the coalition partners that will take place “probably in three events”, in addition to the events of each party.

Senator Manini Ríos told the media that “there is clearly the conviction to work for the triumph of the Republican Coalition” and that the main proposals that his political force brought forward are linked to the fight against drug trafficking and the “prevention” of drug consumption. among others linked to the debtor plebiscite and national MSMEs.

“Our spirit is always dialogue-oriented, seeking to have a fine agreement. We are going to present our proposals and then comes the negotiation,” he explained.

Colorado Ojeda, who achieved an important portion of votes within the alliance, highlighted last night’s event in Plaza Varela along with the other official candidates, and stated that after the day “the coalitionist spirit” of everyone stands out.

“We came to this to achieve a second coalition government, we are not going to let go of that hard work when there is less than a month left (for the runoff),” Ojeda commented.

Regarding the priorities raised by his party, the lawyer emphasized: “Obviously, security is a priority.” In that sense, he said that work would also have to be done regarding mental health, although he clarified that he does not like to talk about “non-negotiables.”

Asked about the FA majority in Parliament, Ojeda expressed that “no one has a parliamentary majority”, since “Uruguay has two Chambers” and “one is not enough, there is no half parliamentary majority.”

“We are going to have a Front (Broad) with a half majority in the Senate, but completely radical. Today the commitment to balance, the commitment to dialogue, the commitment to building a majority in Parliament is assured with the Republican Coalition,” he commented.
