“ATE Buenos Aires considers the call as an important step forward on the path to the recovery of rights and the democratization of labor relations”they noted in a statement.

They also recalled that it is about compliance with Law 14,655, “a debate that we have been developing throughout the Buenos Aires territory.”

On the other hand, the union pointed out that the full validity of the Law implies salary discussion within the framework of free joint ventures, career and working conditions within a Collective Agreement, a salary floor below which no mayor can pay salaries, an end to job insecurity and all forms of hiring without stability, equalization of family allowances.

“For a municipal State that guarantees the rights of the majority. We say no to a privatizing state that manages businesses of privileged minorities,” concludes the ATE Buenos Aires document.

Weeks ago, the government of the province of Buenos Aires and the unions agreed this Thursday on a salary increase of 8% for state workers, which will be paid in two tranches.

The signing took place at a meeting held at the Buenos Aires Ministry of Labor, in La Plata, between representatives of the administration of Axel Kicillof and representatives of the Association of State Workers (ATE) and the Union of Civil Personnel of the Nation (UPCN).

There, the parties agreed to an 8% salary increase in two tranches: 4% in October and 4% in November, based on the month of June.

Representing ATE Buenos Aires was the general secretary, Claudio Arévalo, the deputy general secretary, Eliana Aguirre, and the secretary of collective labor agreements, Martín Fontela.

In this regard, Arévalo stated “we value the political will and these instances of collective business that we have been having throughout this year.”
