The project will involve the creation of 2,500 jobs and almost 90 new branches throughout the country.
After meeting with the president Javier Mileihe CEO of the Carrefour Group, Alexandre Bompard announced an investment in Argentina for 300 million dollars. The project, planned for 2025-2026, has the objective of continuing to expand the leading supermarket chain in the country: it will involve the opening of 27 new Maxi branches, 60 Express, it will create 2,500 new jobs.
The Co-Executive Director of Carrefour Argentina, Néstor Sist, highlighted the chain’s decision and celebrated: “Today we are marking a milestone in the history of more than 40 years of Carrefour in Argentinawith an ambitious project that will allow Let us continue to strengthen our presence throughout the national territorymeeting the expectations of assortment and quality for all the people who choose us.”
For her part, Candela Arias, Co-Executive Director of the company, remarked: “This announcement is a show of trust in the great teamwork that the company has been carrying out in the country, always focusing on active listening to our Clients and the design of proposals that adapt to each purchasing need.”
Carrefour’s expansion in Argentina advances
The expansion plan of the supermarket chain in Argentina involves two formats. On the one hand, the Carrefour Maxi, for families or merchants looking for better prices with no minimum purchase. This type of business started in 2011 and since then 31 branches have been opened.
The other axis of Carrefour’s growth is the increase in Express, the local format with more than 3,000 references to cover the purchasing needs of daily replenishment. During this year, 27 stores of this type were opened in the country.
