The G20 Leaders Summit will take place from Monday, November 18 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There, like every year, representatives of all the countries that make up the so-called Group of 20 will meet, as well as nations and international organizations invited to this edition.
It will be the Javier Milei’s first G20who already confirmed his attendance last October and will travel with the mission of promoting the free trade agreement between the Mercosur and the European Union. The libertarian leader will have bilateral meetings with the French president, Emmanuel Macronand the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.
But then, starting in 2011, the summit began to be held annually. In this way, the highest representatives of 19 countries plus the European Union They formed the main space for political and economic debate in the world.
The countries that will participate in this edition are: Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, United States, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, United Kingdom, South Africa and Turkey. In total, the group represents the 85% of the global gross product, two thirds of the world population and, in addition, 75% of international trade.

Additionally, in this edition the following will be invited as guests: Angola, Bolivia, Qatar, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Malaysia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Norway, Paraguay, Portugal, The Vatican, Singapore, Tanzania, Uruguay and Vietnam.
On the other hand, international organizations such as: the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank (WB), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Financial Stability Board (FSB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the League of Arab States (LEA), the United Nations (UN), among others.

The Argentine president will participate in the summit for the first time since his inauguration in December 2023. Already weeks before the meeting, the libertarian sought to impose his mark: Argentina was the only G20 country that did not support a declaration on gender equality and women’s empowerment that ministers and officials from the group’s nations signed in Rio de Janeiro.
After Donald Trump’s victory in the United States and days before the arrival of the summit in Brazil, Milei faces a week with the focus placed on the international agenda.

On Thursday morning, the top leader travels to the United States to attend the Conservative Action Political Conference (CPAC)which will take place in Mar-a-LagoTrump’s luxurious mansion located in Florida. There, Milei will seek to achieve the long-awaited photo with Trump.
After this, the libertarian leader will return to the country to prepare for the visit of the president of France, Emmanuel Macron. Both heads of state will meet on Sunday, November 17.
After Macron’s visit, on November 18 Milei will finally embark on his trip to the summit of leaders of the G20 in Rio de Janeiro, where the host will also be present, Lula da Silva, president of Brazil. According to Executive sources, a bilateral meeting with the Brazilian leader, with whom he maintains deep ideological differences, is not expected. Nor is a meeting on the agenda with the president of China Xi Jinping.
Finally, and to close his international week, the president will meet with the italian prime minister,Giorgia Meloni, with whom he has demonstrated numerous ideological winks since the beginning of his administration. Both representatives will have lunch together at the Olivos villa on Tuesday, November 19.
