“We have lived an unforgettable day because almost all the polls were giving a very tight result and full of uncertainty that speculated that the decision could be in the observed votes or that they need a longer analysis,” he said in dialogue with Radio10 on the program Gustavo Sylvestre.

Mujica referred to the surveys and the surprising result that the count provided, which was much earlier than expected. “From the first moment of the results, an important advantage of our candidate began to appear and, indeed, it was affirmed over the hours,” celebrated the former president.
Meanwhile, the political leader took the opportunity to shoot up numbers against what will now be the opposition of the Frente Amplio (FA). “In 40 years of democracy, the opposition parties to the Frente Amplio governed 25 and in those years the wages of the workers and retirements average increased between 12% and 13%. The FA, of those 40 years, governed for 15 and salaries and pensions increased 87%, almost 88%,” he recalled.
“This is the big difference. The difference in the distribution of those who work by selling the effort of their hands or their head. This fact, which is little publicized, has repercussions in the long run,” he added.
On the other hand, the former president anticipated that international challenges are coming, among them, the agreement of the Mercosur with the European Union. “Everything indicates that the agreement with Europe is not going to happen due to the attitude of France, to which is added Poland”, he assured. However, he recalled that Brazil began to have dialogue with China.
Meanwhile, regarding future relations with Argentina, The former president stressed the importance of having good relations. “The countries are not silent. We know that, whatever the government, we have to fight to have good relations with Argentina because the Argentines are going to continue maintaining the habit of coming to the Uruguayan East and the Uruguayans like the great city of Buenos Aires“, said.
