The government of Javier Milei relaxed the conditions of entry into the country for citizens of Saudi Arabia

The Government made official this Thursday modifications in the country entry requirements for citizens of Saudi Arabia. This is a relaxation in the conditions required by the Argentine Immigration authorities. The measure was carried out through the Resolution 144/2024 published today in the Official Gazette.

The norm of the Vice Chief of Staff of the Interiorwhich operates under the orbit of Guillermo Francos, exempted the Argentine consular visa requirement for foreign nationals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabiaholders of ordinary passports, when their entry into the country is carried out on a “transitional basis.”

Likewise, the regulations clarify that only those who “hold a valid and current visa in similar categories for entry to the United States of America and manage a visa will be exempt from presenting the consular endorsement.” Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE)”.

“It is established that the procedure provided for in this resolution will be implemented whenever the National Directorate of Migration, decentralized body acting in the orbit of the Vice Chief of Staff of the Interior can previously verify the validity of the visas with the competent authorities of the State,” the Government ordered.

Changes to entry requirements for citizens of Saudi Arabia

The rule is supported by the Migration Law No. 25,871, which regulates the admission, entry, stay and exit of people to the national territory and establishes, among its objectives, facilitating the entry of visitors to the country, in order to promote trade. , tourism, cultural, scientific, technological activities and international relations. This legislation specifies different subcategories in which foreigners who enter the country as “transitional residents” may be admitted.

In 2016, a similar measure was implemented that favored foreigners from the People’s Republic of Chinathrough decree 892/2016. Through it, the Executive authorized the then Ministry of the Interior, Public Works and Housing to include “people of other nationalities who may benefit from the facilitation provided herein, in accordance with the immigration policy priorities that are defined, and that contribute to the purpose of promoting trade, tourism, cultural, scientific, technological activities and international relations.”

With respect to Saudi Arabia, the Executive considered: “By virtue of the satisfactory results obtained with the application of the described regime and with the aim of advancing in the adoption of measures that contribute to the policy of modernization, rationalization, streamlining, facilitation, reduction of costs and technological innovation, the National Directorate of Migration – pointing out the economic, commercial and political importance that the measure would imply – considers it appropriate to include nationals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the list of foreigners, holders of ordinary passports, who are exempt from the Argentine consular visa requirement when their entry into the country is carried out on a temporary basis.”
