Franco Colapinto will start last in the sprint race of the F1 Qatar Grand Prix

The Argentine pilot Franco Colapinto (Williams Racing) came in last place in Q1 of the Sprint, with a time of 1:23.423, at the Losail International Circuit in Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix.

The Argentine barely did one lap with his Williams Racing and had finished fourteenth in his first lap, but as the minutes passed and he entered the pits, he was finally in last place in the Sprint table.

The first eliminated in Q1, in addition to Colapinto, were Sergio Pérez (Red Bull Racing), Yuki Tsunoda (RB), Esteban Ocon (Alpine) and Zhou Guanyu (Kick Sauber).

Already in Q2, those who left the competition were: Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Alexander Albon (Williams), Valtteri Bottas (Kick Sauber), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas).

For this reason, the man from Pilar will start in 20th place in the Sprint Race this Saturday the 30th, at 11 (Argentine time).

While the British Lando Norris (McLaren) took first place, his compatriot George Russel (Mercedes) in second place and the Australian Oscar Piastri completed the podium.

How did FP1 go?

The Argentine finished in nineteenth place with a time of 1:24.200 in Free Practice 1. His teammate, the Thai Alex Albon had a better practice and finished ninth, clocking 1:23.161.

The driver from Pilar was unable to get comfortable on this new circuit, having difficulties with the hard tires – with which the two Williams drivers started like the Ferrari drivers from the start – and suffered complications in turn five.

In his first lap on soft, Colapinto failed to climb in positions, improving his time in the first sector but being slower in the last two. Unlike Albon, who with the change of tires, finished third behind the two Ferraris.

The day will continue this Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Sprint Race, and at 3 p.m., qualifying for the race will take place.

On Sunday, December 1, the race will be at 1:00 p.m.
