Noel Gallagher revealed his mother’s reaction to the news that he and his brother Liam had organized a reunion Oasis.
The Britpop legends revealed their long-awaited return to the stage earlier this year, announcing a series of huge stadium concerts across the UK and Ireland taking place next summer. This was followed by the announcement of dates in North America, South America (including Argentina), Australia, South Korea and Japan.
Despite having revolutionized the music world with the news and having made headlines for the subsequent struggle to get tickets for the upcoming shows, it seems that her mother, Peggy, is not so excited about the announcement.
What the Gallaghers’ mother said about the Oasis reunion
Speaking as part of a new event at the National Portrait Gallery, the guitarist, singer and songwriter Noel revealed that his mother “didn’t give a shit” about his return.
“My mother never gave a shit, ever. Do you know what Irish mothers are like?,” she said (via The Sun). “When we told him we were coming back, he said, ‘Sure, it’ll be great.’ “That was all”.
He went on to say that he hopes she will attend one of his stadium concerts when the time comes. “We will try to take her to Dublin”he added, referring to the band’s upcoming shows in Croke Park.
His mother had spoken out about Oasis’ split in the past and came forward in 2011 to urge them both to end their feud and stop a legal battle in which they were both involved. At that time, he said that I wanted them both to “work it out”.
Shortly before, he was reported to have made another call for peace between the two brothers, allegedly urging them to resolve their differences in the hope that Liam would attend Noel’s wedding.
Later in 2019, Liam offered his “sincere apologies” to his mother and niece for “being caught up in all this childish behavior” between him and his brother.
