Although his talent is indisputable and has generated interest in several teams, recent events suggest that his chances for 2025 are increasingly diminishing, due to poor results in the last three Grands Prix in Brazil, Las Vegas and Qatar.
The news was spread by the specialized media Auto Motor Sport and assured that the Alpine team, which at some point showed interest in the young Argentine driver, would have decided to withdraw from the negotiation due to the high cost of his contract.
The situation became complicated after a brief meeting between the head of Alpine, Flavio Briatore, and Colapinto’s entourage, led by his manager María Catarineu. This meeting took place before the Qatar Grand Prix, but did not leave significant progress.
Currently, the French team has a defined lineup: Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan, who will take the place of Esteban Ocon, recently dismissed after his incident with Colapinto in the last race. In this context, it would seem that Alpine’s doors were closed definitively for the Argentine pilot.
Added to this scenario is the departure of Red Bull, another team that had shown interest in Colapinto. Christian Horner, team manager, highlighted the strength of their youth talent program, which suggests that they no longer consider Colapinto a priority. “We have a great pool of talent in the Red Bull junior team, and I am sure that Franco will find his place on the grid in the future”said Horner.
The statement was supported by team advisor Helmut Marko, who highlighted the internal competition among its young drivers, such as Isack Hadjar, and the good performance of established names such as Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda.
