What did former Infrastructure Minister Guillermo Ferraro die from?

The former Minister of Infrastructure, Guillermo Ferraro, passed away this Wednesday in the city of Buenos Aires. After his brief time in Javier Milei’s government, he had moved away from the public scene. He was 69 years old. In recent months there was a disease which, after some complications, led to his death.

Ferraro was Javier Milei’s first minister to leave office. He took office on December 10, 2023 and after just 46 days, on January 27, he was fired by the then Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse.

It was the Office of the President who made Ferraro’s resignation official. Then, they stated that his resignation was due to “personal reasons“. Despite his short time in management, he was valued by the rest of his cabinet colleagues.

Guillermo Ferraro’s professional career

Ferraro He was a public accountant and had a degree in Business Administration from the University of Buenos Aires, a doctor in economic sciences and had a postgraduate degree in systems engineering, also from the UBA.

He began in politics within the Justicialista Partynear Antonio Cafiero. He was part of Eduardo Duhalde’s government and served in Nación Servicios.

In the private sectorwas director of Banco de Entre Ríos between 2003 and 2005, and of Banco Bisel between 2003 and 2007.7

Between 2010 and April 2023, he was director of Infrastructure and Government at KPMG Argentinaa global network of professional services firms offering auditing, legal and tax advisory, and financial and business advisory services in 156 countries.

In this company he worked in the Aconcagua Railway Tunnel, the Chihuido Hydroelectric Power Plantthe Ushuaia cargo port, public-private participation models for road corridors, and in the Aconcagua Bioceanic Corridor, the latter specifically with Corporación América, where he met the then chief economist of the company Javier Milei and the future head of cabinet Nicolas Posse.

Between 2019 and 2021 he directed the harvester producing company Vassalli Factory in Firmat.

Ferraro He was part of the La Libertad Avanza team during the 2023 presidential elections, which ultimately brought Javier Milei to the presidency.
