Entre Ríos formalized its accession to the Federal Reparation Regime

December 10, 2024 – 12:32

The proposal offers alternative ways to settle debts between the Nation and the districts, such as fiscal lands and other items. There are already 11 provinces that have joined.

The governor of Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerioheld a meeting this Monday with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Interior, Lisandro Catalánand the Minister of Economy of the Nation, Luis Caputoin which he signed a letter of intent for the province’s voluntary adhesion to the Extinction of Reciprocal Obligations Regime, which aims to facilitate the process of cleaning up public accounts.

The Regime created by Decree No. 969/2024 allows the reciprocal obligations between jurisdictions to be extinguished, totally or partially, thus allowing, in this way, to implement the definitive clean-up of financial situations.

It also makes it possible to agree on compensations, conciliations, transactions, recognitions, referrals and any other operation that tends to determine and cancel reciprocal debts and/or credits between the parties. In this sense, the measure is important, due to the number of jurisdictions that maintain levels of debt that condition the situation of financial balance and, therefore, the sustainability of their fiscal schemes.

To date, there are 11 jurisdictions that have expressed their willingness to enter the Regime to work on simplifying debts and credits between the Nation and the provinces. Among them are Catamarca, Corrientes, Chaco, Chubut, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, La Pampa, Misiones, Salta, Santa Cruz and Tucumán.

This regime also allows the withdrawal of judicial cases in processes, as well as the commitment of the National State to comply with agreements signed during 2024 with the provinces.

The Secretary of the Treasury also participated in the meeting, Carlos Guberman; the secretary of Provinces and Municipalities, Javier Milano; and the Undersecretary of Provincial Fiscal Coordination, Valeria Sanchez.

The 11 provinces that have entered the regime so far are, for the most part, from governments allied to the Nation, both Cambiomitas and wayward Peronists and local forces.

Interest in La Pampa

However, in that platoon La Pampa stands out, whose governor, Sergio Ziliottois one of the staunchest opponents of the administration of Javier Milei.

Through a statement, the Pampas government stated “the decision of the Province to access the Regime provided by the national Government in order to facilitate the process of validation of the debts of our province.”

In the text, the Casa Rosada was requested to give “priority and act quickly” to the process, to avoid increasing the negative impact on provincial finances, given the magnitude of the accumulated debt. “The provincial government will immediately send the documentation required by the decree showing the debts that the Nation maintains with La Pampa,” they noted.

Days ago, Ziliotto held a meeting with Lisandro Catalán at the Casa Rosada with a focus on the Procrear program, dissolved by the national government, and on public works.
