This is the company Hijos de Salvador Muñoz, the main producer and exporter of beans in Argentina and a leader in the production of peppers.

The company Children of Salvador Muñoz (HSM), leader in the production of peppers in Argentina and the country’s first bean exporter, recognized in the local market for its brand Saverecently bought a 3,600-hectare field for which he paid US$12 million. In this way, the national capital firm that is making a strong presence in northern Argentina expands its portfolio of its own lands.

Mostly, HSM is dedicated to the production and marketing of fresh vegetables, bananas, legumes and cereals, livestock farming and the production of canned food in fields located in Salta and Jujuy. It has a total exploitable area of 28,700 hectares, of which 15,100 hectares (53%) are owned and 13,600 hectares (47%) are leased. Approximately 24,000 hectares are destined for bean production, 2,400 hectares for livestock pastures, 1,700 hectares for fruits and vegetables and 600 hectares for bananas, his latest big bet.

As explained by the firm in the note sent to the National Securities Commission (CNV), the 3,600 hectare field they purchased is intended for grain production and the company had already been renting it.

The company is a giant in the food business that focuses on the local and international markets. In general terms, It produces around 80,000 tons annually. It has an industrial complex in Embarcación, Salta, which includes a bean processing plant, a vegetable packaging plant, another for the processing of preserves and logistics warehouses.

The firm’s participation in the Argentine canned pepper market reaches more than 70%, being absolute leaders in all segments; whether for home consumption with own and third-party brands, or through the gastronomic channel. Peppers and tomatoes for “canning” go on sale canned with own brands and with “white labels” intended for third-party local wholesale clients, to serve retail consumption and the gastronomic channel.

Additionally, 25% of its income comes from the livestock business. This activity is carried out through two independent units in 4,500 hectares of field, 100 pens and 6,000 meters of feeders. The purchase of this field, which was already exploited, is in line with this productive unit, since it is intended for the production of grains, mainly corn, for animal feed.
