Albanesi Group launched the expansion of the Modesto Maranzana Thermal Power Plant, which now reaches an installed capacity of 475 MW.

In Río Cuarto, province of Córdoba, the Albanesi Group launched the expansion of the Modesto Maranzana Thermal Power Plant, which now reaches an installed capacity of 475 MW. This plant produces 25% of the energy consumed in the province, benefiting 233,000 homes in Córdoba.

This novelty, the product of a 100% private investment of US$190 million, is part of the conversion project from open cycle to combined cycle of the largest thermal generation plant that Albanesi owns in the country, and included the incorporation of a new gas turbine, a steam turbine and boilers.

The president of the Albanesi Group, Armando Losón (h.), highlighted: “Today we celebrate not only the completion of the expansion of the Modesto Maranzana Thermal Power Plant, the largest by installed capacity that we have in the country, but also the important achievements achieved since we assumed its operation. In almost 20 years, we have invested more than US$400 million and added more than 400 MW of efficient energy to the system.”

This work, which has just been completed, It is part of an investment plan for US$600 million that Albanesi began to execute in recent years, for the construction of 405 MW, which represents 25% of its total generation capacity. This is an initiative that is closely linked to the role that the company wants to play in the energy transition process, building and expanding the capacity of its plants, and transforming them into more efficient energy.

The same methodology was applied in the Ezeiza Thermal Power Plant, where this year Albanesi completed the cycle closure work and doubled the installed power, taking it from 150 MW to 300 MW, with a direct impact on 200,000 homes. Furthermore, in October of this year the company inaugurated the Arroyo Seco Cogeneration Plant in Santa Fe, whose construction required an investment of US$165 million to inject 130 MW into the province’s electrical system.

Albanesi is an Argentine business group with private capital founded in 1912, with 112 years in the local market. Its main activities are the generation of electrical energy and the provision of natural gas. It is the main marketer of natural gas in the country. According to projections, by the end of this year it will approach 2,000 MW of installed capacity through its 10 plants equipped with the latest generation technology.
