The exports of the SME companies They grew by 21.7% during the January-November 2024 period, reaching a total of US$9,234 million, which is equivalent to 12.4% of the total exported by Argentina in that period.
In terms of volume, SMEs exported 7.9 million tons, which represents an increase of 27.5% compared to the first eleven months of 2023. This increase in exported tons reflects real growth in sales abroad by SMEs. However, The average price per exported ton registered a drop of 4.5%, standing at US$1,174.
The fact that the increase in volume is greater than that recorded in monetary value shows that Companies must export greater quantities to generate the same income in dollars. This is because, in most cases, prices are not a negotiating variable. In this context, adding value to the exported units would increase the contribution margin of each dollar generated by exports.
Of the 7,701 export companies registered in this period, 5,486 are SMEs, which represents 71.2% of the total operators during the first eleven months of the year.
These data arise from the SME Export Monitor (MEP), an indicator prepared by the Statistics and Reports sector of the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME).
