The city of Buenos Aires declared the Venezuelan leader Edmundo González Urrutia an illustrious visitor

Previously, the opposition leader to Nicolás Maduro met in the morning with President Javier Milei at Casa Rosada.

Edmundo González Urrutia, political leader of Venezuelawas declared an illustrious visitor by the city ​​of Buenos Aires in “recognition of the leadership of someone who represents the hope of millions of Venezuelans.” The ceremony took place this Saturday, where the vice head of the Buenos Aires Government participated, Clara Muzzio; the Secretary General and International Relations, Fulvio Pompeo; and the institutional spokesperson of the Buenos Aires government, Laura Alonso.

Jorge Macrihead of Government, had met with González Urrutia in Madrid last November, where he had declared: “I met with the elected President Edmundo González Urrutia, symbol of the fight for freedom in Venezuela, and whose recent electoral victory is a clear message from the Venezuelan people against the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro.”

Under this line, Muzzio stated: “We are honoring him with the diploma of Illustrious Visitor of our city, in recognition of the leadership of someone who represents the hope of millions of Venezuelans and as a sign of our support for the struggle of the Venezuelan people.. “You will always find in us a faithful ally and a voice of solidarity with the cause of Venezuela’s freedom.”

The meeting between both political leaders began at 11. According to what they said from Casa Rosada, during the meeting they discussed “concrete initiatives to promote stability in the region” and Argentina’s commitment to republican values ​​and the well-being of its citizens was reaffirmed. After the meeting, both Milei and the Venezuelan leader went out to the balcony of the Casa Rosada for several minutes to greet the protesters present in the Plaza de Mayo. The image was a political gesture from the Argentine government to the Venezuelan leader, who proclaimed winner of the presidential elections in his country on July 28. This result was not recognized by the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela, which validated Nicolás Maduro as the elected president, but without showing electoral records despite international claims.

In the coming days, the inauguration will take place in Venezuela. In this context, González Urrutia must return to his country – where the Maduro regime initiated an arrest warrant – to meet with Corina Machado and, according to what they said, prepare for the inauguration on January 10.
