The arrest of David Nazareno Ávila
Ávila was arrested on January 9 in his hometown, General Rocaand according to authorities, he planned large-scale attacks in the country under the “lone wolf” modality and with the spread of jihadist propaganda through social networks.
It was learned that the 21-year-old man worked at a courier shop in General Rock. The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, considered that this data “is not coincidental because that messaging allowed him to move to choose targets“.
“He is a terrorist linked to Daesh, to Islamic State. ‘Naza’, As he called himself on the networks, he represented a concrete threat to the security of Argentines. We thwarted their plans before they could cause damage,” Bullrich had noted yesterday.
His arrest occurred within the framework of an investigation carried out by the Campana Federal Prosecutor’s Office and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Unit in Organized Crime (UFECO)in charge of Sebastián Bringas and Santiago Marquevichrespectively, together with the fiscal assistants of those agencies Gastón Arauz and Ignacio Rueda.
An undercover digital agent intervened in the investigation and even hijacked his phone. There they found chats with people who, according to security forces, were decisive in arresting the suspect.
“In Argentina we have a Zionist government that supports Israel and must pay for its sins. I want to carry out an attack. I want to learn how to make explosives if you can help me”he would have asked a person named Naza, supposedly linked to a terrorist group.
