Racing thrashed 3-0 Colo-Colo of Chile, as a visitor, in the framework of the last preseason friendly, played this Saturday, prior to the start of the Apertura Tournament of the Professional Soccer League.
At the Monumental stadium in Santiago, the Chilean capital, the champion of the Copa Sudamericana visited the trans-Andean champion prior to what will be the debut in the Apertura Tournament of the Professional League next Friday at 5 p.m. against Barracas Central as a visitor.
Racing opened the scoring in the second half, at 6 minutes, with Santiago Sosa’s goal. After an excellent cross by Luciano Vietto from the left of the Colocolina area, the ball reached the far post where the former River midfielder entered alone and headed cross to make it 1-0.
The ‘Academy’ increased the lead at 35 with Santiago Solari’s goal. The debutant Uruguayan striker Adrián Balboa pivoted and went back three quarters of the Colo-Colo field to head in, leaving Solari one-on-one against goalkeeper Brayan Cortes and for the former Defensa y Justicia to define from under him.
At 45, Racing extended the lead with another goal from Solari. After a long ball from Agustín Almendra, striker Balboa got rid of his mark and was one-on-one with goalkeeper Cortes but preferred to give the pass to the middle so that Solari could define alone and make it 3-0.
In other friendly matches prior to the start of the Apertura Tournament, Estudiantes de La Plata beat Racing de Montevideo 4-0 with the goals of Guido Carrillo, the Uruguayans Sebastián Boselli and Tiago Palacios, Cristián Medina and Santiago Ascacibar in the framework of ´La Night of the Lion’.
Furthermore, within the framework of the Rio de la Plata Series, Gimnasia La Plata beat Cerro Largo of Uruguay 1-0 with the goal of Uruguayan Juan Pintado – from a free kick – at the Luis Franzini stadium in Montevideo. In another duel between Uruguayans and Argentines, Instituto de Córdoba lost 1-0 with Montevideo Wanderers at the Alfredo Victor Viera stadium due to Nicolás Royon’s goal.
