Clap Your Hands Say Yeaha heady mix of unusual pop and lush, melodic indie rock, is undoubtedly one of the best and most influential independent releases of the 2000s.
The celebration of this vintage album will officially begin with the premiere of the original 2004 version of the fan-favorite song, “Heavy Metal”. The newly remixed and remastered track was recently discovered among the original project’s archives and captures what Clap Your Hands founder and frontman Say Yeah, Alec Ounsworthcalls “a special moment in time: a group of young people crammed into a hotel room to wake up and go to a real studio (!) to try to create something special just for fun.”
In addition to the anniversary digital release of the original version of “Heavy Metal,” a special deluxe reissue will arrive on a limited edition vinyl LP in early 2025, released on CYHSY’s own label via Secretly Distribution, the home of Alec Ounsworth’s music for more than two decades.
