Neuquén increased fines for hydrocarbon companies that commit offenses by almost 600%

The increase will be 591% compared to the values ​​that were in force since 2023, starting in $3,257,222 and may achieve – depending on the type and degree of non-compliance – $1,085,738,225, although there are cases of serious non-compliance that establish sanctions greater than $4.3 billion.

This percentage arises from the accumulated variation recorded by the Consumer Price Index of Goods and Services for the city of Neuquenpublished by the Provincial Directorate of Statistics and Censuses of Neuquén, from January 2023 – date of the last update – until October 2024.

The new scale has been in force since last January 16, after the publication of the Decree 53/2025 in the Official Gazette.

With this new scale, the minimum penalty will be $3,257,222 and The maximum will vary depending on the case.

The highest amount established -of $1,085,738,225-, will apply if the non-compliance refers to safety in the activities of fractionation, transportation, distribution and marketing of liquefied petroleum gas.

For non-compliance linked to safety in the activities carried out by hydrocarbon companies, the sanctions could reach $4,342,952,898.

On the other hand, if these are non-compliances linked to technical regulations on exploration, exploitation and transportation, they could be up to $217,147,637.
