The presentation of an iconic album and a lost cassette
Eduardo Avelleira had sat in row 10 of the Teatro Astral, with a Phillips tape recorder resting on his knees.. By the time a young 23-year-old Spinetta began with: “We were just meeting with some slides that had texts (…) they were all written by Antonín Artaud, a French poet, to whom I dedicate the next album that is going to be released,” Eduardo was already recording.
And that’s how On that October 23, 1973, the young fan took away – to his ignorance – a piece that would have historical value.. Eduardo is now close to 70 years old, He lives in Banfield and is a professor at the University of Lanús. But he was a Spinetta fan from the first hour; Although he stopped following him a little during his time with Invisible and Spinetta Jade, he returned to frequent his shows when he was with his Socios del Desierto, and finally attended the Bandas Eternas show.
However, When Artaud’s official album came out, Eduardo abandoned his recording, even though he rescued the moments where “Flaco” spoke between songs. Much later, when it seemed to be forgotten, found it thanks to a moveand tried to check if it worked. In fact, it was heard and clear, a miracle of acoustics in Eduardo’s words.
So it was that He converted it to CD format in the UNla sound laboratory and began to distribute ituntil it came into the hands of the Spinetta family. Thus began a process of restoring the document, which finally saw the light of day in the 2020.
The disk has All the leaves are from the wind, They go down and Yellow Bridges Cantatathe three cuts of Artaud that Spinetta presented at that evening. In addition, it has an unpublished version of Mud Maybe -recently published in Kamikaze (1982)-, which Luis presented like this: “Authentic musicians were never able to eliminate folklore from our music. Trying to do so would have resulted in dismemberment. Not because folklore does not have violence, noise from the earth. Folklore is that which can grow in one and discover it at any time in your life. (…) I’m going to do a zamba that I composed when I was 13 and I’m not interested in being made fun of.”
Furthermore, the recording is divided into several cuts in which Spinetta She explained concepts, exchanged words with the audience and even calmed down those who tried to agitate her.all with the parsimony of someone who already had a lot of stage despite his young age. On the other hand, he sang songs from Almond -his first training- and Mad Fishalthough the whole show was about him and his guitar.
