He was a successful soccer player, he was Messi’s teammate, he made several millions, but he lost everything after an unfortunate event.

The former footballer was the victim of a scam in Türkiye that involved other athletes and the technical director Fatih Terim.

Nowadays, financial scams are a growing problem. Mostly virtually and with people who have difficulties with digital transactions, but in this case it was a banking institution that used the name of an important coach to trick soccer players into investing large sums of money.

In 2018, it was Denizbank, which used coached Fatih Terim to convince players like Arda Turan, Emre Colak, Fernando Muslera, Emre Belözglu, Semih Kaya and Selcuk Inan among others. The victims blindly trusted the technician’s initiative and even openly spoke of the project as “Fatih Terim’s fund.”

The scam against Arda Turan

The scandal arose in April 2023, following a complaint from coach Fatih Terim, who was one of those who used the bench to make the players fall. The news came out some time after the coach was separated from the Panathinaikos team in Greece. Terim denounced the bank Denizbank for defrauding the players Arda Turan, Emre Colak and Fernando Muslera.

Apparently, the director of a bank branch had asked soccer players for millions in amounts for a fund that was going to go to a high-performance school. The pretext was that the famous coach was also going to collaborate, although that agreement had never been officially closed.
