The prosecutor’s office of the Oryol region began an investigation after reports appeared on the Web about improper care for an elderly woman in a regional hospital. This was reported on February 16 on the website of the department.
Earlier that day, local media reported that 65-year-old Nina Rykova was admitted to the regional hospital in a critical condition with intestinal inflammation. A few days later, the pensioner stopped answering calls from relatives. They were not allowed into the hospital.
On January 4, the pensioner’s daughter sneaked into her mother’s room. As it turned out, an elderly woman, alone, lay half-dressed on the floor. According to her daughter, the pensioner spent more than a day in this position, because that was how long she did not answer the phone, which was lying on the nightstand.
According to the woman, no one apologized to her mother for such an attitude. It is noted that Rykova could not stand up on her own, as she recently suffered a coronavirus, which had a very strong impact on her health.
The prosecutor’s office will check compliance with the legislation in the field of health protection in the Oryol Regional Clinical Hospital. The inaction of medical personnel will also be assessed.
Information about improper care will also be checked by the Russian Investigative Committee for the Oryol region, the investigators have already organized the production of a pre-investigation check. During it, all the circumstances of the incident will be established, the committee noted.
Earlier, on August 8, the Investigators organized a verification of the information that the medical staff of the hospital in Volgograd poorly monitored the child, who was alone in the box. Earlier in the day, a video of a baby locked in a hospital room circulated online. The footage shows a boy in a T-shirt crawling on a dirty floor and carrying a soiled sheet over it. The child was alone in the hospital box.
