The Khimki District Court of the Moscow Region satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation for the recovery of almost 19.4 billion rubles against the Rolf company and its founder Sergei Petrov in favor of the state.
“The claims were satisfied in full,” TASS was told on February 16 in court.
The defendants in the case, in addition to “Rolf” and Petrov, were the companies “Rolf Motors” and “Rolf Estate St. Petersburg”. The court decided to recover the amount of the claim from all the defendants.
Petrov’s lawyer Aleksey Kupriyanov noted that they intend to appeal this decision, arguing that there are no grounds for such a decision.
“There is Rolf, who for some reason should be jointly and severally liable for the offenses attributed to Sergei Petrov, joint and several liability without a victim does not apply, but Russia, to whose treasury the money is claimed, has not suffered any damage,” Kupriyanov noted.
The Prosecutor General’s Office substantiated its claims in the lawsuit by the fact that Petrov managed the Rolf company, being then a State Duma deputy. He was accused of not declaring his true income as a civil servant.
On June 27, 2019, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Petrov on the withdrawal of 4 billion rubles abroad. According to investigators, in 2014 Petrov was the actual owner and head of Rolf, Panabel Limited and Rolf Estate.
According to the same version of the investigation, these funds, through a Moscow bank controlled by the businessman, were transferred by his accomplices from the Rolf account to the Panabel Limited account opened with an Austrian credit institution. As a result, the money went to Petrov himself.
In September 2019, Petrov was put on the international wanted list.
Rolf was founded in 1991. The company’s dealer network includes more than 50 showrooms in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
