Residents of the Moscow region were warned about the strengthening of the wind on Thursday, February 17. The corresponding message was distributed by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the region on Wednesday, February 16.
According to forecasts, wind gusts on Thursday will reach 18-20 m/s. So, residents of the Moscow region were advised to remove household items from yards and balconies, cut dry trees that could damage their homes, park their cars away from trees or in a garage, writes RIAMO.
On the street, pedestrians were urged to bypass houses with unstable roofs and shaky structures. In addition, people were urged to avoid bridges, overpasses, pipelines, power lines, as well as potentially dangerous industrial facilities in strong winds, the Moscow city news agency clarifies.
Earlier, on February 16, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warned of strong winds and sleet in Moscow on February 17.
In this regard, the department recommends that drivers slow down, increase the distance from the vehicles in front and park away from trees.
Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading employee of the Phobos weather center, noted that on February 17, Moscow will be covered by the Ilenia cyclone, which will bring storm winds, pressure drops and precipitation to the capital. However, according to the weatherman, it will be warm outside.
