President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko arrived at the Osipovichsky training ground on February 17 to observe the Belarusian-Russian exercises. This was reported by the correspondent of “RIA Novosti” from the scene.
It is planned that during the joint operational exercises “Allied Resolve – 2022” a tactical episode will be played at the training ground, in which rocket troops and artillery, aviation of the Union State, as well as units of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Armed Forces will take part.
The joint Russian-Belarusian exercise “Allied Resolve – 2022” started on February 10. They are aimed at testing the response forces of the Union State. The maneuvers are taking place at combined-arms training grounds in Belarus. The exercises are arranged for the qualitative development of tasks “to suppress and repel external aggression in the course of a defensive operation, as well as to counter terrorism and protect the interests of the Union State. The exercises are due to end on February 20.
On February 15, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said that Russia and Belarus do not consider any state as a potential adversary during joint military exercises. According to him, the control systems of the troops of Russia and Belarus “are very clearly aligned.”
On February 16, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei specified that all Russian military and equipment would leave the republic after the end of the joint maneuvers.
At the same time, on February 17, units of the logistics brigade of the Western Military District arrived at the point of permanent deployment after the completion of planned exercises. On February 16, the tank army of the Western Military District, following the units of the Southern Eastern District, began to return to the points of permanent deployment. Earlier that day, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the return of units of the Southern Military District from Crimea. On February 15, part of the units of the Southern Military District and Western Military District also returned to their places of permanent deployment.
