Oncological diseases occupy a leading position in terms of mortality in Russia. This was announced on Thursday, February 17, by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
“Unfortunately, malignant diseases still occupy a leading position in terms of mortality both in our country and around the world, and this terrible disease can only be resisted by joining forces,” she said at the XII All-Russian forum of the interregional public movement “Movement Against cancer.”
She noted that the government provides support and assistance in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Golikova recalled that Russia has been implementing the federal project “Fight against cancer” with unprecedented funding since the end of 2018.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that very serious tasks have been set for the oncological service, including a decrease in the mortality rate. These results can only be achieved by increasing the availability and quality of oncological care, she explained.
Golikova expressed her confidence that the Movement Against Cancer forum would become a platform for productive discussions, as well as contribute to the development of effective solutions aimed at the benefit of the health of citizens.

Blokhin on educational activities, Alexander Petrovsky called for an examination in order to detect an oncological disease in time. According to him, there are no specific symptoms of oncological diseases, and pain usually manifests itself in the later stages. In this regard, only a timely examination by a doctor can help to notice cancer in time.
On January 26, Chief Oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Ivan Stilidi told Izvestiya that the detection of cancer in the early stages had decreased due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, he noted that the process of treating cancer patients did not stop during the pandemic, and the oncological service is working and has been working at full capacity all this time.
