In St. Petersburg, a nurse who is involved in the case of the death of seven patients of the consultative and diagnostic center No. 1 tried to commit suicide. According to Izvestia, the woman attempted to commit suicide on February 8.
The nurse was saved. The woman is currently in intensive care.
The death of people after the examination of the stomach in the St. Petersburg clinic became known on January 26. Then two patients, aged 60 and 42, died. The third patient died on 27 January. In total, seven people died.
Investigators believe that the use of barium during the examination, which is not intended for medical use, caused the patients’ deaths.
On February 7, the court arrested the head of the department of the medical center, the woman will be held in custody until March 25. She was charged with a crime under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of unsafe services). On January 28, Evgeny Popov, the head physician of the clinic, was arrested for two months.
The head nurse of the clinic and two other deputy chief doctors of the center were also charged.
