There are a number of symptoms of stomach cancer that appear in the early stages of the disease. This was announced on Thursday, February 17, by British doctor Sanjay Mehta.
“The first signs of stomach cancer are often vague, but can include heartburn, indigestion, changes in appetite, including feeling full after eating small amounts, and nausea and vomiting,” Mehta said.
The specialist added that the first signs of the disease can also be difficulty swallowing, pain in the upper abdomen and weight loss. However, there are also early non-specific symptoms.
These symptoms may indicate other diseases, but if they occur, you should consult a doctor, Mehta concluded.
Earlier in the day, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that cancer is the leading cause of death in Russia. She noted that the government provides support and assistance in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Golikova also recalled that Russia has been implementing the federal project “Fight against cancer” with unprecedented funding since the end of 2018.
February 4, Deputy Director of the National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after N.N. N.N. Blokhin on educational activities, Alexander Petrovsky called for an examination in order to detect an oncological disease in time. According to him, there are no specific symptoms of oncological diseases, and pain usually manifests itself in the later stages. In this regard, only a timely examination by a doctor can help to notice cancer in time.
On January 26, Chief Oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Ivan Stilidi told Izvestiya that the detection of cancer in the early stages had decreased due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, he noted that the process of treating cancer patients during the pandemic did not stop and the oncological service was working and had been working all this time at full capacity.
