The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet (BSF), the guards missile cruiser Moskva, carried out artillery firing in the Black Sea as part of the exercises of naval forces, naval aviation and coastal troops. This was reported on February 18 by the press service of the Black Sea Fleet.
According to the Navy, the artillery systems were used to repel an air attack by a mock enemy who was trying to launch a missile attack on the bases of the fleet forces.
“Luminous aerial bombs dropped in the combat training ranges by the crews of naval aviation aircraft were used as air targets,” the press service betrayed.
Also, as part of the exercise, “Moscow” performed artillery firing at surface targets. To imitate enemy ships, ship target shields and mock-ups of floating sea mines were used.
In total, during the exercises, the cruiser hit more than 50 sea and air targets.
On February 15, ships of the Black Sea Fleet, as part of the exercises, conducted tactical maneuvers and, with the help of artillery combat, destroyed a mock enemy submarine. According to the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, in the Black Sea, the ships worked out the conduct of naval artillery combat, the search for and destruction of a mock enemy submarine, as well as air defense.
Earlier, on February 12, it was reported that more than 30 ships were taking part in the large-scale exercises of the Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF). It was noted that the purpose of the exercises is to develop the defense of the sea coast of Crimea, the bases of the Black Sea Fleet, as well as objects of the country’s economy and sea communications from possible military threats of a mock enemy.
