A native of Buryatia, who was forcibly detained in the Voronezh region, wrote a statement to the police. This was reported to Izvestia on February 17 by Oleg Melnikov, the founder of the volunteer organization Alternativa.
He said that the woman went to law enforcement officers along with representatives of the organization. The victim was afraid to write a statement, but public figures managed to convince her. Photos of beatings of a woman and her children were attached to the case.
In addition, the application was written in the name of two deputies from the Voronezh region and from the Republic of Buryatia.
Melnikov also told how the victim managed to free himself. The woman was able to contact her friend and report that she and her children were forcibly detained and beaten.
“The girl herself is from a deep village in Buryatia. And she could not stand up for herself and generally understood little how to act in this situation, because she was afraid, she was told about the connections of these farmers in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Now we have already been sent information that one of these brothers was already sentenced to five years probation for holding a person for a similar crime in 2017, ”the social activist specified.
He added that the woman’s children remain in the office of the volunteer organization.
Earlier that day, the government of Buryatia reported that the head of the republic, Alexei Tsydenov, took control of the situation with the woman who fell into slavery. A corresponding request will be sent to the investigating authorities, and social services will be instructed to provide assistance to the victim and her children.
In the “Alternative” they said that the woman fell into slavery two years ago, when she arrived in the Voronezh region to work with two young children. A native of Buryatia agreed to work on a farm. However, she was not paid for her work, beaten, abused and held. The beatings were also inflicted on children, who, moreover, could periodically be given alcohol to drink.
The woman also said that she had to cohabit with a farm worker. At the same time, she was afraid to turn to anyone for help, because she was intimidated by her large connections in law enforcement agencies.
