Putin conferred general ranks on 74 military and law enforcement officers

Russian President Vladimir Putin conferred new general ranks on 74 military and law enforcement officials. The corresponding decree was posted on February 17 on the portal of legal information.

Military ranks were given to servicemen of the Armed Forces and the National Guard, special ranks were given to employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the fire service, customs authorities, and the UK.

So, in the Armed Forces, four people received the military rank of lieutenant general.

Among those awarded the new title are Igor Yemelyanov, head of the Military Academy of Radiation, Chemical and Biological (RCB) Protection, Alexander Nagalin, deputy head of the Air Force Academy’s military training and research center, and Alexander Sanchik, commander of the Amur formation of the Eastern Military District.

Another 24 military received the rank of major general, two – rear admiral (corresponding to the rank of major general). And another person – Rear Admiral Eduard Mikhailov – received the rank of vice admiral (corresponding to the rank of lieutenant general).

Four new major generals and one lieutenant general appeared in the ranks of the National Guard. Also among the National Guard there are now six new police major generals.

In the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a special rank of lieutenant general of police was received by one employee, major general of police – five people, major general of justice – two people.

In addition, four employees of the State Fire Service, two employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service, 13 employees of customs authorities and five employees of the Investigative Committee received special general ranks.

Earlier, on December 8, 2021, Putin awarded the rank of Colonel General to Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. Six more servicemen were awarded the rank of lieutenant general, eleven – major general. By the same decree, four military men were awarded the rank of Rear Admiral.

In February last year, the Russian leader conferred the rank of general on 26 law enforcement officers. So, in particular, five servicemen of the Russian Guard received the military ranks of lieutenant general and major general, and three more employees of the Russian Guard were awarded the rank of police major general. Four employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also received the rank of major general.
