The Lublin Court of Moscow changed the brother of blogger Alexei Navalny (included by Rosfinmonitoring in the register of organizations and individuals involved in extremist activities or terrorism) Oleg Navalny with a suspended sentence for a real one on a “sanitary case”. This was announced on Friday, February 18, by an Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom.
“The court decided to satisfy the submission of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Send Navalny to a strict regime colony to serve his sentence,” Judge Vladimir Kuznetsov said in the decision.
Oleg Navalny did not come to the court session.
The blogger’s brother was given a one-year suspended sentence on August 6, 2021. The investigation found that he called on the townspeople to participate in an unsanctioned action, thus creating a threat of mass coronavirus disease.
The court forbade him to change his permanent or temporary place of residence during the probationary period and ordered him to come for registration to a specialized body.
However, on January 26, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation put Oleg Navalny on the federal wanted list. On February 18, it became known that he probably left for Cyprus in September and did not return to Russia. According to the case file, Navalny has been hiding from the control inspection for more than 30 days and does not comply with the requirements of the court.
