This is evidenced by the data of Defender Oleg, a smart telephone secretary from Tinkoff, whose number of users has reached 1 million people. Such calls account for 33% of all spam calls received by Oleg over the past month, the bank’s press service reported.
Another 22% are calls from medical centers and dentists offering to undergo a free comprehensive examination or receive some kind of service at a discount. In third place (13%) are calls from various companies asking to evaluate the quality of service.
Also in the top five most frequent spam calls are various offers from banks (12%) and mobile operators (11%).
Statistics show that the frequency and subject of unwanted calls depend on seasonality. For example, before the New Year holidays, “the top five popular spam scenarios included calls from developers with a proposal to consider the design of an apartment, as well as from autoinformer robots reporting New Year’s discounts on certain goods and services,” the press service noted. At the same time, calls from microfinance organizations and medical centers regularly appear in the top three most frequent calls.
The majority of spam calls received by Oleg are robocalls (76%). Of these, 50% are fully automated, another 12% are performed by dialer robots, which, after picking up the handset, switch to the operator, and 14% come from robots that imitate the speech of a real person.
