On February 18, a tourist charter flew from the capital to Murmansk as part of the Rostourism program. This was announced by the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Zarina Doguzova.
“Our winter charter program continues, yesterday a tourist plane flew from Moscow to Murmansk,” the head of the department said.
Doguzova noted that the plane arrived in the northern city with a 100% load.
According to her, the Murmansk region is a destination for active winter recreation in the Arctic, where you can go skiing and snowboarding, go ice fishing, and try Arctic cuisine.
Doguzova also said that a charter flight at the expense of state subsidies makes it possible to make a trip 1.5–2 times cheaper on average and offers the tourist a ready-made tour, in which the entire program is thought out – flight, accommodation, transfer and excursions.
According to the Federal Tourism Agency, the program works in two directions: not only Muscovites can fly to Murmansk, but also city residents will be able to go on a tourist charter to the capital.
The next flight will leave Moscow for Murmansk on February 22.
On February 3, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the government would provide subsidies for Russian charters to support tourism. He noted that with the help of these subsidies, operators will be able to reimburse up to 50% of the cost of organizing flights. Mishustin expressed hope that Russian citizens will take advantage of new opportunities for traveling around the country, because package tours to popular Russian cities will become more affordable.
On December 15, 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the opportunities for the development of domestic tourism in the Russian Federation, which were provided by the coronavirus pandemic, should be used more energetically.
In September, it was reported that in 2022-2024 the country’s budget expenditures on the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry” would amount to 168 billion rubles. Such data is contained in the explanatory note to the draft law “On the federal budget for 2022 and for the planning period of 2023 and 2024.”
