In Orel, an official was detained because of the fall of ice from the roof on a teenager

An Orel administration official was detained on the case of injuring a 16-year-old teenager as a result of ice falling from the roof of a house. This was reported on February 18 on the website of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

“The head of the department of municipal housing control of the Department of Construction, Road Facilities and Improvement of the Administration of the City of Orel was detained. In relation to him and other officials, investigative and procedural actions are being carried out, the investigation plans to elect a measure of restraint in relation to the detainee,” follows from the material.

Investigators examined the scene, and also conducted searches in the administration of the city of Orel. As a result, relevant documentation for the investigation was seized.

In addition, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“negligence”). It was transferred to the Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigation Department.

Earlier on Friday, ice fell on a minor from the roof of house No. 3 on Gostinaya Street in Orel, as a result of which he received a severe head injury and was hospitalized in intensive care.

According to the investigation, the apartment building does not have a management company, the employees of the city administration did not properly maintain and service it.

Earlier on the same day, the department of the RF IC in the Nizhny Novgorod region reported the death of a 55-year-old man as a result of an ice block falling from the roof of a building. On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing death by negligence”).
