The coalition grouping of forces of the Russian Federation and Belarus at the exercises “Allied Resolve – 2022”, after practicing actions in defense, launched a counteroffensive against a mock enemy. This was announced on Saturday, February 19, to journalists in the Russian Defense Ministry.
“In the course of practical actions, the defending troops, with the support of the missile and artillery units, as well as in cooperation with the aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Air Force and the Air Defense Forces of the Republic of Belarus, began to launch a counterattack,” the report says.
The department added that the combat training tasks performed during the maneuvers are based on the experience of modern armed conflicts, including in Syria.
The joint Russian-Belarusian exercise “Allied Resolve – 2022” started on February 10. They are aimed at testing the response forces of the Union State. The maneuvers are taking place at combined-arms training grounds in Belarus. The exercises are arranged for the qualitative development of the tasks “to suppress and repel external aggression in the course of a defensive operation, as well as to counter terrorism and protect the interests of the Union State.”
Part of the maneuvers has already been completed, after which the Russian units returned to their places of permanent deployment. Fully military exercises will end on February 20.
On February 17, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the Osipovichsky training ground to observe the Belarusian-Russian exercises. The head of state got acquainted with the operation of the joint group of missile forces, which includes the Belarusian Polonaise multiple launch rocket systems and the Russian Iskander operational-tactical missile systems.
On February 15, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said that Russia and Belarus do not consider any state as a potential adversary during joint military exercises. According to him, the control systems of the troops of Russia and Belarus “are very clearly aligned.”
