The tradition of collecting money for the birthday of colleagues and various holidays causes rejection in work teams. This was stated on February 20 by Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Media Policy of the IGSU RANEPA Felix Sharkov.
As the expert recalled in an interview with Sputnik radio, the tradition of collecting money originated in the Soviet era, and even then it “infringed on some people and caused conflicting feelings.” According to him, even with a good attitude towards the person for whom the money was collected, perseverance itself caused rejection.
Sharkov said that collecting money for gifts or corporate parties oppresses many employees at the present time.
The expert suggested replacing this tradition with new elements of corporate culture, for example, celebrating significant dates together with a separate bill. The sociologist also recommended exchanging small personal souvenirs without collecting money.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia over the past year the number of employed citizens aged 20 to 29 has significantly decreased. So, from September 2020 to September 2021, this figure decreased by 460 thousand people.
On January 3, the results of a study by the Rabota.ru service were published, which showed that in 2022 the majority of Russians are planning to change their place of employment. This was stated by 71% of the respondents in Russia.
