Mass poisoning of children occurred at a football competition in the city of Lukoyanovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported on February 20 by local media.
According to them, a message about the poisoning was received by the district medical center on February 19 at about 23:30 from the Rubin Hotel. There were children between the ages of six and eight years old who came to the football competition.
A total of 13 children and two adults reported poisoning. Three children were brought for inpatient treatment at the Lukoyanov Central District Hospital. The parents of one of the patients refused hospitalization. Two more children with “moderate severity of food poisoning” were brought to the Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 8, located in Nizhny Novgorod.
In addition, according to the results of a medical examination, more than ten patients were prescribed outpatient treatment at their place of residence.
According to the Ministry of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, football competitions organized on the basis of the sports and recreation complex “Kolos” were held in the status of commercial competitions.
The prosecutor’s office of the Nizhny Novgorod region and specialists from the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor began checking information about the deterioration in the well-being of children.
Earlier, on January 17, it was reported that in Saratov, three girls were poisoned, presumably, by sweets. The law enforcement agencies specified that on January 16, girls born in 2014 and 2015 were taken to the hospital with signs of poisoning.
At the time of the poisoning, the children were with their grandmother. A relative reported that the children had eaten sweets that one of the girls had brought from the kindergarten. The police are investigating the incident.
