Public universities are facing historical definance that directly impacts our functioning and, which is even more worrying, in our substantive functions. We talk about research that seeks solutions to pressing problems, the extension that connects knowledge with communities, and teaching that forms the professionals and citizens of tomorrow. This complex situation requires a critical look, but also a proactive vision. The accumulated experience should not be seen as an anchor to the past, but as the foundation that allows us to transform the present and build a more promising future.
